Dubai – Thousands of Indian expatriates living in the UAE may be at risk of losing their residency due to a recently introduced documentation requirement that has quietly gone into effect.

Several reports from employment consultants and relocation specialists suggest that expats are now being asked to verify and update key residency information β€” including their Emirates ID details, current address, and employment records β€” or face the possibility of automatic visa cancellation.

β€œMany people are unaware of this update. Some have already faced issues during renewal because their information wasn't properly aligned with the new system,” a relocation advisor warned.

πŸ“Œ Who is affected? This silent rule reportedly impacts:

Indian nationals who recently changed jobs

Expats with 2+ year visas not linked to an active business or employment

Individuals who haven’t updated their mobile number or address for over 12 months

Unlike previous policy shifts, this requirement was not widely publicized, leading to confusion and concern among UAE residents.

⏰ Deadline Approaching
Sources close to expat service providers suggest that June 30, 2025 is the unofficial compliance deadline. In many cases, affected individuals have not received any direct notifications.

β€œThere are no warning messages. If your file is reviewed and considered incomplete, the visa may be cancelled immediately,” one expat support manager stated.

βœ… What You Should Do Now: Double-check your Emirates ID and visa records

Update your registered mobile number and address

If self-employed, ensure your trade license or activity permit is active

Contact your HR or visa advisor to confirm your file is compliant

πŸ“ž Questions?
Expats are encouraged to take immediate steps to confirm their records are complete to avoid unnecessary risks or disruptions to their residency status.

Stay tuned for further updates. This situation is ongoing, and multiple residents have already taken action to secure their status.
